Dacotah Rousseau, a native New Yorker, is Managing Director of Down to Earth Markets, a thirty year old Certified B-Corp committed to balancing profit and purpose. Following a career in the wine and spirits industry, in 2016 Dacotah brought her entrepreneurial skills to Down to Earth and, in 2021, became its Managing Director. In keeping with B-Corp values to balance profit and people and to care for the environment, Down to Earth manages nine farmers’ markets throughout New York and Westchester. It envisions a strong regional food system of independent farms and food businesses in order to grow the local food economy and to provide a healthy alternative to the mega food industry. Down to Earth’s Morningside Park market every Saturday morning on the corner of West 110th Street and Manhattan Avenue offers an abundance of beautiful flowers, fresh fruit, seasonal vegetables, and gourmet delicacies.
