2017 Melville Awardee – Lenny Librizzi

For over 31 years Lenny Librizzi has been a leader in environmental education and the community gardens movement. As Director of Green Infrastructure at Grow NYC he created and administered the Learn it, Grow it, Eat it Project, the Community Garden Mapping Project, and the Water Resources Group, dedicated to water conservation and pollution prevention through education about, and the installation of, rainwater harvesting systems. He is responsible for the design and construction of 200 rainwater-harvesting systems that collect over 2 million gallons of water each year and do not enter our overburdened sewer system.
