Application Instructions

The City Gardens Club welcomes the scholarship application of any New York City public school teacher who teaches science in the classroom: elementary, middle, or high school. The application process is straightforward.

Decide on Workshop Programs for which you would like a scholarship

Review descriptions, dates and target grade levels of Workshop Programs. Pick two programs that best meet your needs.  It is critical that you mark your calendar to ensure your availability for the programs you choose, should you receive a scholarship for one of the programs.

Submit Application and a Recommendation by deadline: May 4, 2018 (April 6 for Hog Island)

  1. Access the application and fill it in online. A link to the application form will be found at the end of these instructions.
  2. Review the application and submit it by hitting the ‘submit” button once. You will receive an acknowledgement email shortly after your application is received.
  3. Request a recommendation from your Principal or Assistant Principal. This letter of recommendation must be sent directly from the recommender’s official DOE email address to You and your recommender will both receive a confirmation email for the recommendation; since this one is sent by humans it may take a bit longer.


Both the Application and a Recommendation must be submitted by May 4, 2018 (April 6 for Hog Island)

The City Gardens Club will acknowledge receipt of both your application and recommendation via email. If you do not receive these confirmation emails, please contact us at

Scholarship decisions will be made by May 18, 2018 (April 13, 2018 for Hog Island). You will be notified either way no later than May 18, 2018.  If that does not happen, please contact us.
